Hello Friends!

As you may have guessed, I am Amanda Brown. No great mystery there. lol. My life has been full of so many amazing, wild, troublesome, confusing, adventurous, trying, and miraculous moments that I could never fit it all into one “about me” section. If I had the time, it could be a novel, but alas… not today.

For now, I’ll share the part that is the most influential to who I am today. I was born and raised in California. I grew up in a severely broken home surrounded by drug addiction, alcoholism and abuse. Throughout my teen years and into adulthood, I formed the same type of life for myself. At 18, I was pregnant with my first child with an older man who was controlling, abusive and addicted to drugs and alcohol. I too was swallowed up in getting high and becoming an alcoholic. After 3-1/2 years, I left this relationship and entered into single parenthood. For years I went back and forth between living sober and living high. At 25, I was again in an ungodly relationship with child number two on the way. After four years of living in a clearly broken and dysfunctional relationship with no hope for peace in sight, I had to make a choice. I took my two children and moved in with my mother – whose husband and my very near and dear stepfather was passing away with cancer. Many ups and downs later, I met the man who would eventually become my husband: Mr. Sam Brown, U.S. Marine. I was smitten.

We were married in late 2007. In early 2008, we were compelled in spirit to start attending a nearby Southern Baptist Church where we surrendered our lives to Jesus. It was during this time that God began to reveal Himself to each of us in an extremely real, supernatural way! A few months later, we moved across the country with our two children to an itty-bitty town in WV where we dwelt in the Appalachian area for four years (and baby number three joined the family). We attended a small, local church within which our foundation in the Word of God was established and we entered the world of ministry. We knew at this point that there was no other path for our lives but to serve the true and living God! No turning back!

After our time in WV was fulfilled, we moved to the Hocking Hills, OH area where we were called to another rural-area church. We also gained permanent custody of our niece bringing our family to a size of six! We went through many trials in our marriage and family during this time. Three years later, the Lord brought us out stronger than ever! Over the summer 2015, we made our first mission trip to Honduras, which was eye opening on a number of levels. Most ironically, to the great need of revival in the hearts of Americans! In December 2015, we moved to the Columbus, OH area to permanently join our {spiritual} family at Hope City House of Prayer and continue mission work within the city of Columbus – specifically to extend love and hope to broken families, those who are homeless, impoverished and drug addicted, among a multitude of other detrimental life situations.

July 2016, we helped launch the Hope City missions program with an incredible team of brothers and sisters. This first domestic mission trip to the Navajo Nation in New Mexico was God-blessed and life changing for many of us!

Though my husband and I left most of our own family when we moved from California, we have certainly found another kind of family. Kingdom family! We’ve met so many wonderful brothers and sisters since we began this journey and expect to meet many more as the days unfold.

Outside of our Jesus-adventures lifestyle, we are really simple people. I’m a minimalist at heart trying to figure out how to make it a reality with a family of 6! I work from home and wouldn’t have it any other way. To be present with my children is a priceless gift. My husband is a full-time nurse. He and I are a team as we grow daily in the Lord together and strive to do the Lord’s will and work in our city. My heart is bound to deliverance ministry, the streets of Columbus and the mission field. I continue to find my life spreading the love and truth of Jesus to those who are lost and in need of deliverance from the hand of the enemy.

Until the Lord adds a new chapter to our story, this is our life. ❤
