40 Days with the King – Intro

I am so excited to share that the Lord has been drawing me into this place of greater intimacy with Him. A place of social media silence, distraction free with eyes and heart set upon Him alone. A time of radical devotion. He began reminding me a couple weeks ago His desire to release more (which is always His desire for us). Though in order to receive the more, we must be willing to sacrifice and surrender all the more. What could that entail? It doesn’t even matter for me, at this point. How could I hear His beautiful voice beckoning closer like this and say no? Yes. Jesus, may my heart always say Yes!

He has impressed upon me the 40 days leading up to the New Year (woohoo!). Beginning November 22nd, it’s silence to the world and greater awakening in Christ! I will share the details in a follow-up post of what I will and will not be partaking of during this time.

For now, I want you to know that He is calling you as well. Closer, to know Him more deeply, to be free from hindrances and to hear the voice of wisdom crying out for this hour that is coming upon the earth. Most importantly, to be engulfed in radical encounter with our King. Radical devotion inevitably produces radical encounter which births radical love in and through us. This is truly the only way we will endure to the end.

So many of us are fretting about like Marthas who have to get it all done, feeling burdened down trying to devise natural, worldly answers to our spiritual problems. All the while Jesus is saying, “Come, come abide in My presence; come and give yourself to Me; come and find rest in Me and I will do the work. I will do it all.” We don’t have to strive. Truly we have ceased from our works and entered into His rest, as Hebrews 4:10 tells us. Apart from Him we can do nothing yet we spend so much time, so much energy, so much mental process trying to figure out how we’re going to do it all. In a sense, we’re just “kicking against the pricks.”

Friends, we need to be completely abandoned to Him. We need to be wholly consumed and possessed by the Holy Spirit. In that space, every single thing that’s according to His purpose will come to pass. Most of us really do want a profound outpouring of God; we want to see the kingdom manifest in glory and power and demonstration, but we’re not even diligently seeking Him. It takes a radical devotion to the King to create radical encounter that consumes us and truly causes living water to flow from our bellies. An abiding encounter that will emanate radical love to a world so desperately in need. We can’t carry encounter, we can’t carry the presence nor can we carry the glory of God if we’re not first consumed by it ourselves.

I sleep, but my heart waketh:
it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying,
Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled…
(Song of Solomon 5:2)

So I encourage you to take this time. Get off all forms of social media. Just turn it off, silence it. Turn off the TV, turn off your sports obsession, shut down everything that is not absolutely necessary and go totally and completely wild after Jesus with ALL your heart, mind, soul and strength. Just obsess over Him–obsess over His goodness, obsess over His glory, obsess over His presence, obsess over His word. He’s going to blow your mind. He’s going to blow…your…mind.

And don’t worry about your social media presence. All these excuses: “But if [fill in the blank] doesn’t go viral,” or “I’ll be out of touch,” or “Everybody needs to hear about [again, fill in the blank],” or whatever else might come to your mind. It’s all hogwash! Jesus caused the early church to EXPLODE across the nations without even a telephone. Lol! Seriously, think about that for a minute. And we think we need the internet. We have got to come up higher and expand our vision well beyond our natural means. Dedicated–undistracted–time in His presence is going to do so much more than days of our carnal efforts could ever do.

The King of Glory is knocking. Will you let Him in?

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors;
and the King of glory shall come in
(Psalm 24:7)

I am so excited! Thrilled! Humbled at the invitation from our King. If you’re saying yes to the journey and would like information to help keep you focused, there is a dedicated resources post just for you! There are tips to help you stay the course, as well as some prayer, fasting and Bible study resources, reading plans, and more. 🙂

Much love in Christ,

Amanda Brown
