Project 365 – Day 33

Hey yall! It’s Monday…and a Monday it has been. I strained muscles in my lower back yesterday and have been a mess all day. It’s blistering cold outside – windy, snowy, yuck! And I had little inspiration for today’s photo.

Today’s Capture Your 265 prompt was “I heart blurred backgrounds.” The goal, obviously, to capture some blurred backgound/bokeh. I had this one place in mind all day. It’s a little town about 15 minutes away and they have this super cute valentine heart light display. I convinced myself that I would take my daughter & her bf and capture some super-sweet photo of them in the street with the lights behind them. The perfect bokeh!

Unfortunately, what you see in your mind doesn’t always line up with the outcome. It was FREEZING outside and trying to get a decent night shot with a wide enough aperture for the bokeh and a fast enough shutter speed for the night (without grainy ISO) left me more blurry images than I was happy with. *sad face*

By the end of the night I was about to give up on today’s prompt when I saw this little “Mother” gift that my son gave me a couple years ago. He bought it at his school’s “country store.” I keep it there as a reminder of his sweetness. That quickly became my subject and after seeking out something to use for light bokeh, this is what I ended up with.

It may be a little boring composition-wise, but it is a sweet reminder of my son. One day when the knick-knack is long gone, I’ll still have this candle-lit photo to remind me. ❤

Back to the freezing cold night photography escapade…

I did manage to get one of my daughter and her bf that wasn’t too bad. For all their gracious posing in the frigid temps and willingness to be my models, I share. 🙂

I feel ok with my photos today and know that each day will only get better. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!
