Project 365 – Day 17

I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday, but I did get my shots in…quite a few actually. I did the Capture Your 365 prompt early in the day and then spent the afternoon shooting my daughter and her boyfriend. I was very disappointed in the afternoon shots though. It was around 3PM and the sun was still fairly high in the sky. I knew it was hard light and should’ve listened to my instincts, but I figured I would try anyway.

I did capture a few decent shots, but for the most part the harsh light and shadows ruined the photos. I’m not going to sit here and complain though…lol. I had such high hopes for this location. I will definitely have to try again at a different time of the day.

And with that, here is day 17…

17/365

The #cy365 prompt for the day was Powdery. My first thought was make-up powder, but the idea of powdered, jelly filled donuts sounded much more promising. I asked my hubs to go grab us some donuts and he, being the best husband ever, headed down to the bakery for me (the girls were happy with donuts too!). After shooting them in a couple different poses (the donuts not the girls LOL!), I took a big ole bite (yummy!) and this was the one I went with.

Powdery Saturday morning treat.

Later Zoe, her bf and I headed down to this spot on the railroad tracks where there’s an abandoned RR car. I had visions of greatness for this location! Unfortunately, the lighting/time of day did not agree with me. I did have fun capturing some non-facial shots too. In fact, these two are may favorites.

This one especially! I don’t know what it is, but I just love it. The design on her dress, the innocence of the way they-re standing, holding hands…all of it. Funny how you can love your own shots like that, huh? lol.

I just adore this shot!

This second one was a favorite as well because of the depth of field. It’s exactly what I was going for! I saw a similar pose on Pinterest and decided to give it a shot. Love it!

Fun shot using a shallow depth of field.

This was my 17th day of the year. Thanks for stopping by!
